Nearby Barberino val d'Elsa, in the Florentine Chianti hills, there's S.Appiano village and the small Romanesque church dedicated to S.Appiano.

The church was estabilished in 12 and 13cent, but it had been mentioned since 11cent. in the ancient codex of s.Appiano Parish as a "castrum" (fortress).

By the church there's a museum with Etruscan and Roman objects found in the nearby fields and showing the importance of this valley through history.
